Okazaki Manufacturing Company was founded as a trading company in 1954, and imported thermocouples, bimetal, etc. from the U.S.A. and sold them. Since then, we have become a manufacturer that also manufactures temperature sensors and industrial heaters, and have reached the current state of our business operations. We have 16 sales bases in Japan, and as manufacturing bases, four factories in Japan, and four affiliated companies including overseas companies.
AEROPAK is our trademark for metal-sheathed thermocouples. This product consists of a slender stainless steel or heat-resistant steel tube (the sheath) that encases thermocouple wires, with inorganic insulation (MgO) tightly packed around them. We produce a variety of products using this design tailored to specific applications. Compared to conventional protection tube thermocouples, sheathed thermocouples offer numerous advantages.
A thermocouple is made up of two different metal wires that are joined at both ends. When there is a temperature difference at the junctions, a thermo-electromotive force is generated, causing current to flow through the closed circuit. The magnitude and polarity of this force depend on the temperatures at both ends and the specific metal combination, but not on the thickness or length of the wires. Therefore, by knowing the thermo-electromotive force at various temperatures for specific thermocouples in advance, you can accurately measure temperature.
They are conventional thermocouples whose structure is to protect the elements of thermocouples from the atmosphere of measuring targets. Currently, sheathed thermocouples are more widespread than protection tube type thermocouples; however, for platinum based noble metal thermocouples, the protection tube type is more widespread than the sheathed type since with the sheathed type, manufacturing is difficult, and there is a limitation on costs.

When a temperature difference occurs at the junctions, it generates a thermo-electromotive force, causing current to flow in the closed circuit. The magnitude and polarity of this force depend on the temperatures at both ends and the combination of the metals, while the thickness and length of the wires do not affect it. Thus, by knowing the thermo-electromotive force for specific thermocouples at various temperatures in advance, temperature measurements can be taken accurately.
When choosing thermocouples, it’s important to select suitable elements based on the temperature range, measurement conditions, required accuracy, and other factors. Additionally, thermocouples should maintain consistent performance even after extended periods of continuous use. We manufacture thermocouples B, R, S, N, K, E, J, and T according to JIS standards, as well as W-5Re/W-26Re thermocouples. Please choose the appropriate thermocouple based on your intended application.
RESIOPAK is our trademark for metal-sheathed resistance thermometer sensors. It features a slender stainless steel tube (the sheath) that houses a conducting wire and the sensor element, with inorganic insulation (MgO) securely packed around them. We can create various sensor configurations based on this design to suit different applications. RESIOPAK offers numerous advantages compared to traditional protection tube resistance thermometer sensors.
Typically, the electrical resistance of metals varies with temperature. Platinum, in particular, shows a linear change in resistance with temperature and has a high temperature coefficient, making it ideal for temperature measurement. Furthermore, platinum exhibits excellent chemical and physical properties and is readily available in high purity for industrial use, allowing it to serve as a stable resistance element for long-term temperature measurements. These characteristics have been standardized by JIS and other international standards, enabling highly accurate temperature measurements.
Protection tube resistance thermometer sensors are traditional designs intended to shield the resistance element from the surrounding environment. While sheathed resistance thermometer sensors are now prevalent in most products, the protection tube type is still used in certain applications due to the challenges and costs associated with manufacturing sheathed types. Additionally, for specialized applications, plastic insulated or coated resistance thermometer sensors are utilized.
The electrical resistance of metals typically varies with temperature. Platinum, in particular, exhibits a linear relationship in this change and has a higher temperature coefficient than other metals, making it ideal for temperature measurement. Its excellent chemical and physical properties allow for high-purity platinum to be readily available, enabling stable use as a resistance element over extended periods. These characteristics are standardized by JIS and other international standards, allowing for highly accurate temperature measurements.
Protection tubes for temperature sensors are designed to shield sensors from high pressure, corrosion, extreme temperatures, and other challenging conditions encountered in various industrial processes. Typically, a type known as THERMOWELL can be installed onto piping systems and used independently of the temperature sensors. The design specifications vary for each application based on specific requirements.
Micro Heaters are cost-effective, highly reliable heaters that provide rapid heat response. The heating element can be bent, coiled, soldered with silver alloy, or embedded in a metal block. The sheath is made from stainless steel or NCF (similar to Inconel), offering excellent heat and corrosion resistance, and features a thin outer diameter, allowing for installation in tight spaces and complex environments.
Sheathed heaters are cost-effective and highly reliable, capable of providing high-temperature heat with a rapid response time that conventional heaters cannot match. The metal sheath can be bent, welded, soldered with silver alloy, or embedded in a metal block. The sheath material is either stainless steel or NCF (similar to Inconel), known for its excellent heat and corrosion resistance.
Sheathed heaters contain a heating element (nickel chrome wire) enclosed within a metal sheath, with the space between them filled with a highly pure inorganic insulator powder. This design completely isolates the heating wire from air and gas, reducing oxidation and corrosion, which results in a longer product lifespan. Additionally, these heaters are more economical and offer higher heat efficiency compared to those with exposed wires.
